THE SECRET OF ANCIENT PLANT - KAWAKAWA
Kawakawa is endemic to New Zealand. The plant is found in lowland forests and along coastal areas throughout the North Island and the upper half of the South Island. Plants can grow up to 6m in height. The branchlets are jointed and swollen where the leaves are attached. The aromatic fleshy heart-shaped leaves have prominent veining and are a dark green to almost yellow green colour.
Kawakawa is a versatile herb and one of the most important in Māori medicine. It has been used traditionally to treat cuts, wounds, stomach and rheumatic pain, skin disorders, and toothache.
Kawakawa's antimicrobial and analgesic properties make it useful for treating infections. Kawakawa is also helpful in reducing inflammation of various skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and rashes. It is also anti-dyspeptic (counters dyspepsia or indigestion) and antispasmodic (eases muscle spasms or cramps), so it makes an excellent digestion aid.
Lycocelle is combining technology with the natural power of Kawakawa to create a healthy and efficient cleaning solution. Lycocelle™ laundry products harness the unique properties of native New Zealand plants and other botanical ingredients to provide a naturally powerful plant-based clean.
